Approaching the authentic perception of the text of the poem by A.S. Pushkin’s “Count Nulin” implies familiarity with many forgotten concepts and phenomena. For convenience, we will divide them into three circles. The first circle is general ideas about the life and way of life of that social stratum, namely the Russian nobility of the first quarter of the 19th century, to which the heroes of the poem belong. These ideas are relatively stable over a long period of time. They begin to take shape in the 30-40s of the 18th century and become a thing of the past (and not immediately) with the abolition of serfdom in Russia, that is, in the 60s of the 19th century. The second circle is the details of everyday life, as well as interests, views and ideas, reflecting the specifics of the historical period in which the action of the poem is placed, that is, the mid-20s. XIX century. The third is getting to know the level of education and literary interests of a possible reader of the poem of this time and, accordingly, understanding the allusions that he might have.
