The village of Visim, lost in the Ural Mountains, is known throughout Russia and far beyond its borders thanks to the writing talent of D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak. The beauty of these places, the “lovely green mountains” that inspired the writer, are still sung by his fellow countrymen today. A native of the Ural village, which has preserved the foundations of the Russian village to this day, tells about the life of the Visim residents, their worries, sorrows and joys. And the author, following the famous countryman, sincerely convinces the reader that “the sky is higher there, and the people are so kind, and I myself am becoming better.” Photographs of Visim and its environs were used for the design.
