The hymns of St. Simeon the New Theologian (X-XI centuries), one of the most profound and original Byzantine thinkers, a great poet and mystic, are well known to the Russian reader in the prose translation of Hieromonk Panteleimon (Uspensky), first published in 1917. Present poetic translation of selected hymns was performed by Bishop.
