Персонажі, зокрема інспектор-детектив Ерік Вінтер, прописані з великою увагою до деталей, що робить їх реалістичними та близькими до читача. Розслідування, яке охоплює серію нападів і викрадень дітей, тримає в напрузі до останньої хвилини, а психологічна глибина історії додає їй особливого шарму.
