Kingsley Amis (1922–1995) is a famous English writer, father of the no less famous Martin Amis. The Woodman, filmed by the BBC in 1990, is widely regarded as his most fascinating novel. The main character is the owner of the tavern, not a fool to drink and not alien to other joys of life, who begins to see ghosts. However, is it imagining things? And is the evil Doctor Underhill really dead, who, according to legend, summoned Lesovik in the 17th century to commit utter outrages?
