The proposed publication is the first collective history of Spain from ancient times to the present day in Russian historiography. The first volume covers the period until the end of the 17th century. The combination of chronological, problematic and regional approaches allowed the authors to trace the most important problems of Spanish history in their dynamics and at the same time demonstrate the diversity of regional development options. A special place in the book is occupied by the theme of interaction and mutual influence in the history of Spain between the civilizations of the West and the East. Questions about the role of Spain in the history of America are considered. In terms of genre, the book combines the features of an academic general work and a textbook, at the same time, “The History of Spain” may be of interest to a wide range of readers.
