He is still perceived as one of the last masters of high film modernism. But what exactly is the contribution of the Russian genius to the development of film aesthetics? Or does its significance reveal itself rather in the field of ethics and philosophy? How did these categories relate to Tarkovsky, and how do they relate today? And where is the border between modernity and postmodernity? The participants of the IV international scientific conference dedicated to the work of Tarkovsky - leading Russian and foreign film experts, cultural experts and film theorists - are trying to answer these and many other questions.
