In the practice of any doctor, and especially a therapist, every day we encounter patients who, due to their illness, do not move independently, do not fully care for themselves for a long period of time. These are the so-called low-mobility patients. Currently, the number of registered disabled people in Russia is about 10% of the country's total population. Some of them, due to the severity of their illness, are completely immobilized, which, in turn, gives rise to severe complications that determine the unfavorable outcome of the disease. In this guide, we outlined the main reasons leading to prolonged immobilization, its complications and outcomes, and also gave clinical recommendations for management of low-mobility patients on an outpatient basis. The guide will be useful for local therapists and general practitioners in their daily work with patients with limited mobility.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program.
