After the First World War, work began in all developed countries to convert artillery to mechanical traction, since horse-drawn artillery no longer met the new requirements for transporting anti-tank, anti-aircraft and field guns of greater mass and increased power. To provide the Red Army with artillery tractors, the Kharkov Locomotive Plant ( KhPZ) were commissioned to design a heavy tractor based on and using elements of the chassis of the T-24 tank. The resulting machine was called "Comintern". During the period 1934 to 1940, 1,798 vehicles were produced, used in all wars and armed conflicts that our country waged until the mid-1940s.
