The actions described below take place in a small village in Dagestan in 1942-1943. The approach of the front, the intensified sabotage work of the enemy, deserters, dispossessed elements who hated Soviet power, complicate the life of the local population. The teenage postman Sultan, out of pity for the mothers of his sons who died at the front, hides the funerals and these funerals fall into the hands of bandits hiding in the forest.
