Gaius Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) was undoubtedly the greatest general and statesman. In addition to his continuous active participation in political and military life, he wrote several works describing his autobiographical experiences. One of these was an essay on the Gallic War. This is not only a detailed source on the history of political relations of the ancient era, but also a work that can be classified as a documentary chronicle, memoir and military treatise. The book's narrative is framed by descriptions of many significant events of that time and ethnographic information.
