"Raw Straw" is a novel written by the Ukrainian writer Marko Vovchko. The book tells about the difficult peasant life at the beginning of the 20th century in the hinterland of Ukraine. The main character, the peasant Andriyko, faces cruel fate, war, hunger and repression. He is forced to solve complex moral dilemmas and important life choices. The book carefully reveals the psychology of the characters, as well as important social and historical problems of that time. "Dry straw" is a reflection of the depth of the Ukrainian soul and the harsh reality of peasant life, which leaves behind important moral reflections for the reader.
