Elka has a difficult life: her husband abandoned her with two children during World War II. The unfortunate woman, fleeing the Nazis, was forced to flee to the homeland of her ancestors. Years later, her sons Aron and Pesach fell in love with the same girl. Elka tries to protect them from a quarrel, but to no avail.
