The book is devoted to the analysis of intertextual connections between Joseph Brodsky's poems and European philosophy and Russian poetry. The correlation of the invariant motifs of Brodsky’s work with the ideas of Plato and the existentialists is examined, the continuity of his poetics in relation to the works of A. D. Kantemir, G. R. Derzhavin, A. S. Pushkin, M. Yu. Lermontov, V. F. Khodasevich, V. V. Mayakovsky, Velimir Khlebnikov.
