Fiction is an amazing literary genre. Describing events that are currently impossible, it nevertheless manages, in an incomprehensible way, to correspond in its content to the demands of the “current moment.” Therefore, the author’s reflections on what an anthology of Soviet science fiction might look like are reflections on Soviet history in general. What was the most important thing in this story in a particular decade? And this is where questions arise... Gennady Prashkevich himself is not the last person, both in Soviet and modern science fiction. He is a winner (sometimes multiple times) of all possible awards that exist in the world of Russian “fandom”, and he knows many of the characters in his book (some, unfortunately, he knew) personally.
