This publication is a textbook on the history of the Middle Ages” created in line with “anthropologically oriented history”. The authors proceed from the position that the unit of historical processes is man. Therefore, the center of the book is not socio-economic formations, states, nations, classes and estates, but the man of the Middle Ages. The explanation of historical events and structures - social, economic, political and spiritual - is based on the views, feelings, aspirations, values of the people of that era. Thus, any events appear as the result of people’s actions, the economy - as the result of their labor actions, religion - as the fruit of their beliefs, etc. Therefore, this textbook does not carry out the traditional division into the history of socio-economic relations, political history, history of spiritual culture, and all of them are considered as manifestations of a single process of formation and existence of Western European medieval civilization. The publication is accompanied by black-and-white and color illustrations, including maps. The textbook is intended for studying history in high school.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
