The story “Explosion” by Pavel Amnuel is set in October 2001. According to doctors, Richard Kirman has only a few days left to live. The famous geneticist, Nobel Prize winner, was dying of cancer. Ironically, for the last five years, working for the military, he has been creating genetic weapons, namely infecting enemy territory with cancer. And so he escapes from a New York hospital. Nobody knew the secret. In fact, he did not die, but... was resurrected! Long before this, he had solved one of the secrets of our genetics, and it turned out that cancer is not a disease, but an attempt by evolution to create a new species of man, the next in the stage of development. But so far these attempts have been unsuccessful. But Kirman was able to overcome this “cancer threshold” and became a superman. But neither politicians nor the military need such a superman, especially one with aversion to evil. And Kirman himself, possessing the body and strength of a new creature for whom telepathy and telekinesis are just berries, was still an ordinary person with his consciousness. He became very dangerous. Only a nuclear explosion, which killed thousands more people, could stop him.
