The novel by one of the founders of Brazilian modernism, Mario de Andrade (1893–1945), “Macunaima, a hero who has no character,” translated by Vladimir Kultygin. This is essentially a parody of the myth, a caricature of the Song of Hiawatha. The creation of the world, the birth and maturation of the hero, his exploits and death with the subsequent transformation into the constellation Ursa Major - and all this in a rather Rabelaisian tone. In the last paragraph it turns out that the above was retold by the author from the words of a parrot, the last witness of those legendary times.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
