The nameless hero of the story comes to the funeral of Pavel Miklashevich, a simple village teacher, who died suddenly and untimely. Here he meets his former boss Tkachuk, an old partisan, who tells him the story of the teacher Moroz and his students, among whom was Miklashevich. This happened during the war, when Belarus was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. Moroz sacrificed his life for the sake of his students, but his name is not on the obelisk, although someone is constantly adding to it. An interesting and sad story about the courage, valor and honor of people whose exploits were unjustly forgotten.
