Автор майстерно поєднує елементи трилера, містики та детективу, створюючи напружену атмосферу, яка тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Персонажі, зокрема лікар Скальд Серпентес, прописані дуже детально, і їхні переживання та внутрішні конфлікти роблять історію ще більш захопливою.
