The Gospel of John is one of the most mysterious and at the same time incredibly attractive works of the New Testament. On the one hand, it completes the body of the Gospels, and on the other, it stands apart from the Synoptic Gospels, not only because it was written later than them, but also because in many respects it is very different from them.

Everyone, Anyone who opens this Gospel, having already read the other three, cannot help but be struck by their dissimilarity. And this dissimilarity affects language, style, chronology, etc. So, reading the Synoptics, one gets the impression that Jesus’ earthly ministry lasted no more than a year, but in John’s version He came to Jerusalem at least three times for the Easter holiday, and, therefore, His ministry lasted at least three years, if not more. In other Gospels, Jesus calls Peter and Andrew first, and does so on His own initiative. But here Jesus was followed by two people who had previously been disciples of John the Baptist, and the name of one of them was Andrew, and the evangelist does not reveal the name of the other. Not only is there no story about the election of the apostles, but the evangelist does not even use the word “apostle” itself. Those who follow Him are called disciples. Among the weather forecasters, the role of Peter is very important: on behalf of all the apostles, Peter solemnly announces to Jesus that they recognized in Him the Anointed Messiah, whose coming the people of God had been awaiting for several centuries. In the Gospel of Mark, as partly in the other Gospels, this is the most important moment, a certain turning point. After all, it was after him that Jesus informed the disciples that He would have to die and rise again and began to teach them separately from the people, preparing them for the great mission that they would be called to fulfill after His ascension to the Heavenly Father. But in the 4th Gospel there is something very vaguely reminiscent of the confession at Caesarea, which cannot in any way be the climax (6.69). In the first half of the Gospel, the first chapter is partially devoted to the theme of the disciples, and then they are almost not seen or heard. But most of the second half is occupied by Jesus’ conversation with his disciples during the last farewell dinner, which is practically absent from the weather forecasters (chapters 13-17).
