The plot of the story “Salteador” is entirely fictional by Dumas, but its plot unfolds against the backdrop of real historical events - the discovery of America, the liberation of Spain from the Arabs, the accession of Charles Habsburg to the Spanish throne. To add a flavor of authenticity, the author weaves real historical figures into the narrative, gives his never-existing heroes the names and titles of famous aristocratic families of Spain, carefully reproduces the topography of the scene of events: Granada and its environs.
