After reading the novel Wuthering Heights, Dante Gabriel Rossetti wrote to a friend: “The action takes place in hell, but the places, for some unknown reason, are named in English.” It's the same with Cortazar. The narrator skillfully draws us into his monstrous world, where there are no happy people. This world is permeable; a person’s consciousness can enter an animal here and vice versa. In addition, the author plays with the material from which we are all woven: I’m talking about time. The style seems casual, but every word is weighed. It is impossible to convey the plot of Cortazar's short story: each of them has its own words in their place. When you try to retell them, you become convinced that you have missed the main point.
