Arthur Koestler (1905 - 1983) - journalist and psychologist, writer and public figure, world famous for his dystopian novel "Darkness at Noon", 1940, which marked his break with the Communist Party and ideological rebirth. A Hungarian by birth, Koestler lived in Germany, Austria, France, briefly in the USSR (Turkmenistan), Palestine, Spain, the USA and, until his tragic death, in England. Koestler’s work was greatly influenced by his meeting in Paris with Sartre (1946), although they did not become close friends. “The Phantom of the Future” is a fascinating, dynamic novel in which, against the backdrop of espionage passions, the fate of people and states decided confront the threat of communist terror.
