The spring of 1355 brings unexpected changes to Girona. Yusuf, the favorite student of the physician Isaac, heads to Granada to meet his real family, who for many years believed him to be dead. However, in the family castle in Granada, Yusuf twice only miraculously manages to avoid mortal danger: apparently, someone is not too happy about his return. The novel “Consolation for the Exile” completes the series of fascinating historical detective stories by Caroline Rowe (the pseudonym of the historian and writer Medora Sale) about the investigations of a blind man doctor Isaac from Girona.

Книга "Втіха для вигнанця" переносить читача в атмосферу середньовічної Іспанії, де на фоні політичних та соціальних змін розгортається особиста драма головного героя Юсуфа. Його подорож до Гранади, сповнена небезпек і несподіванок, змушує задуматися про важливість родини та місця в житті. Автор майстерно передає емоції і переживання персонажів, а також створює яскраві образи середньовічного світу. Хоча переклад тексту іноді містить незначні недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися захоплюючим сюжетом. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто любить історичні романи з глибоким змістом і цікавими персонажами. Вона залишає по собі слід і спонукає до роздумів про родину, ідентичність і місце людини в світі
