Автор, Аластер Рейнольдс, майстерно створює атмосферу напруги та невизначеності, де технології та суспільство розділені на ворожі зони. Сюжет, що крутиться навколо агента Кільйона, який намагається вижити в світі, де його життя під загрозою, захоплює з перших сторінок. Книга сповнена несподіваних поворотів, які тримають у напрузі до самого кінця. Описані світи вражають своєю різноманітністю: від футуристичних технологій до доіндустріального суспільства.
