The book publishes the first complete translation into Russian of the notes of the Chinese Buddhist Xuan-tsang, compiled after his trip to India, made in 629–645. The purpose of the pilgrimage was to visit the holy places of Buddhism and acquire Buddhist texts. The geographical narrative underlying the work is replete with historical and literary plots, originating from Buddhist texts belonging to different genres. The translation of the text “Da Tan si yu ji” is accompanied by translator’s comments, bibliography, and indexes.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
