Book by the famous historian, candidate of historical sciences A.N. Lobina completes a series of studies on the history of Russian artillery of the 14th–17th centuries, covering the period 1676–1702: from the reign of Fyodor Alekseevich to Peter’s cardinal reforms in the field of military affairs after the defeat near Narva during the Northern War. New archival data discovered by the author from the Pushkar Prikaz, the main artillery department of that era, for the first time allow us to take a new look at the transformations in artillery on the eve of the sole reign of Peter I and “at the beginning of glorious deeds” - in the first years of the reign of the great reformer of Russia.
