On the eve of the First World War, a little girl was found on the pier of an Australian port with a child's suitcase in her hands. Ця книга - справжній шедевр, який захоплює з перших сторінок і не відпускає до самого кінця. Історія Нелл, маленької дівчинки, яка опинилася на чужині, сповнена таємниць і емоцій, які змушують задуматися про важливість сімейних зв'язків і пошуку свого місця у світі. Автор майстерно переплітає минуле і сучасність, створюючи глибокий і багатошаровий сюжет, який тримає в напрузі. Я була вражена, як Кассандра, онука Нелл, розкриває таємниці, які вплинули на життя її родини, і як цей процес змінює її саму. Книга порушує важливі теми, такі як пам'ять, спадщина та самопізнання.
