The award-winning novel by contemporary Canadian-British writer Rachel Cusk (born 1968) consists of ten meetings and conversations. During the unbearably hot summer in Athens, the main character, a famous novelist, teaches a course in creative writing. Her new acquaintances and interlocutors are neighbors, students, teachers who willingly talk about themselves - sharing their beliefs, dreams, fantasies, worries and regrets. Against the backdrop of their stories, as if by contrast, a portrait of the narrator emerges - a woman who learns to live with the consciousness of great loss. “Contour” is the first novel of a trilogy that changed ideas about this traditional literary form and significantly expanded the boundaries of modern prose. The book is published in Russian for the first time.
