Головна героїня, слідча Чарлін Лагер, стає не лише детективом у розслідуванні зникнення юної Аннабель, а й символом боротьби зі злом, яке може ховатися навіть у найкрасивіших місцях. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу села, де за зовнішньою гармонією криються заздрість і ревнощі, що робить читання ще більш захоплюючим. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має незначні недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися історією.
