At the beginning of summer, a young girl named Annabelle, a poetic and unhappy beauty, disappears in an idyllic Swedish village. Annabelle was last seen walking home from a party late at night. The search for local police and volunteers does not yield results, so Charlene Lager, a talented investigator from Stockholm, is brought into the investigation. Charlene grew up in these parts, so she understands much more about the local residents than is visible to the outside eye. She knows that against the backdrop of blooming gardens and bright green meadows, tragedies unfold and destinies collapse. Gradually, the detective finds out that the missing girl was entwined in a tight tangle of envy, jealousy and malice.
