Книга "Відкладена війна" пропонує читачеві захоплюючу альтернативну версію подій Другої світової війни, де автор сміливо експериментує з історичними фактами та можливими варіантами розвитку подій. Максимов-Нефєдов знову стає центральною фігурою, і його роль у військовому та цивільному керівництві Датського королівства викликає інтерес. Автор вдало піднімає питання, що сталося б, якби Данія була краще підготовлена до зовнішніх загроз, і які наслідки це могло б мати для всієї Європи. Читач отримує можливість замислитися про важливість своєчасних рішень у критичних ситуаціях.
