In 1973, Martin Amis, a famous English novelist and critic, successfully debuted with the novel “Notes about Rachel.” The novel takes place one day before the hero-narrator, Charles Highway, turns twenty, and focuses on his painful amorous experiences. Critics, with few exceptions, appreciated the skill in creating comic situations. The following year the book won the Somerset Maugham Prize.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
