Problems of selection and calculation of cutting conditions for single-position and single-tool machining operations are considered: external longitudinal turning with brazed and prefabricated carbide cutters| turning with cutters from superhard materials | holemaking with axial tools| milling surfaces with cutters of various types. An algorithm and sequence for calculating forces and moments during milling with end mills is given. Equations for cutting characteristics have been developed.
