In the comedy "Kinola's Hopes" Balzac returns to the question of the relationship between a person marked by genius and his environment. This topic has always occupied Balzac, as well as many of his contemporaries (for example, Stendhal, and especially the romantics - Hugo, Vigny, Musset, etc.). Balzac makes the hero of his new play the inventor Fontanares, who built the first steamship in the 16th century.
