One day, at about half past five in the evening, a Dog entered the jungle. All of him, from ears to tail, was covered with amazing drawings, each of which depicted some kind of fairy tale. These incredible stories - about the cheerful and cunning monkeys Shlevian and Kukuk, about the burgomaster cat, about the donkey who dreamed of becoming a zebra - are told by the Dog to the Lion who meets him. In response, the king of beasts, taking ham and sandwiches from his briefcase and treating them to the hungry traveler, tells his own, no less amazing stories. Like many famous storytellers, Paul Maar wrote a book for his children - because he did not want to read to them what he found on bookstore shelves. So in 1967, the “tattooed Dog” appeared, and with him - an outstanding children's writer, the future daddy of Subastic, the most popular living children's playwright in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, awarded many awards, as well as the highest award of Germany - the Order of Merit before the Federal Republic of Germany."

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
