The experiment took Belov, a retired officer with an engineering education, to the middle of the first millennium AD. He found himself somewhere in the middle between the Slavs, Volga Bulgars and Finno-Ugrians of the Urals. With provincial calm, Belov is building a new life. He makes acquaintances with neighbors, gets married, starts trading - in general, runs his usual household and plans a peaceful family life. He smelts steel and creates firearms to fend off numerous profiteers. Still, a quiet life is not for Belov. He regularly gets involved in adventures, saving people and even dragons. As a result, the Ugric horde, which decided to conquer the Byzantine province of Pannonia, turns south and goes to the fabulously rich India.
