This book, published in two editions in 1974 by the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house, caused heated controversy, because for the first time, partly on the basis of archival documents, it showed the role of Freemasons in the epoch-making events in Russia in 1917. This edition has been seriously revised and expanded, including through an extensive “Appendix”, in which the time has come to tell why the godfather of the book was the Chairman of the KGB of the USSR Yu.V. Andropov, who tried to initiate the publication of historical works without censorship.
