The author addressed his new exotic story about animals and people, “The Miracle in Feathers,” to teenagers. It is at this age that many of them first think about such eternal questions as: who am I? What am I living for? What is love? The main character of the story, a bird-beast unknown to science named Khrum, who lives in the jungle of one of the distant countries of Southeast Asia, is also concerned with these questions. He does not want to live “by the laws of the jungle,” because the reality around him is filled with violence and bloodthirstiness. Khrum prefers the laws of kindness, mutual assistance and respect, according to which the wild elephants he met on the way to the Big Muddy River live. The main characters of the story are also a trio of young representatives of the human community - Elise Smith, Mike Peters and Ray Carter, who come to the aid of a strange little animal in trouble. Khrum again finds himself in his familiar world, where he meets a “miracle in feathers” similar to himself. Meeting a stranger for the first time awakens in him a previously unknown feeling... The story “The Miracle in Feathers” is written in an action style, with the author’s characteristic gentle humor and “cinematic” kaleidoscopic plot construction.
