Recently, a children's, pre-revolutionary holiday has returned to us - St. Nicholas Day. According to beliefs among the Christian population, on December 19, a kind grandfather comes to homes with gifts for diligent children and with a rod for careless ones. By the way, the first temple in Rus', according to Nestor the Chronicler, bore the name of Nicholas the Wonderworker and was erected in Kyiv in 882 on the grave of “the murdered Prince Askold.” The plot of the story “Waiting for the Christmas Miracle” is both educational and entertaining. Its action takes place in our days, on the eve of the winter holiday of St. Nicholas. The main characters of the story are brother and sister - Andrei and Ksyusha, their classmates Lena and Rita and, of course, Nicholas the Wonderworker himself with his heavenly helpers - angels. The story is written with gentle humor in the style of good fairy tales, it harmoniously intertwines reality and myth. It will be read with interest by children aged 6 to 12 years.
