The plot of the book is based on the events that took place in 2669 and known from the game Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger. People won the battle for Earth: they defended their home planet. But it was a Pyrrhic victory. The Confederate forces have lost many ships, and things on the fronts are also going from bad to worse. At this critical time, Confederate strategists make a last-ditch effort and launch a new weapon project capable of destroying an entire planet. However, this plan fails, and once again the fate of humanity lies in the hands of a small group of brave pilots. Paladin and Blair, Admiral Tolwyn, Maniac and Hobbs return again. We are also introduced to a group of new pilots who continue the fight against the ruthless Kilrathi. One of the moments not covered in the game: Flint, after a disagreement with Blair, continues to fly under his command and dies in the last mission to the planet Kilrah, covering him.
