V. F. Kormer is one of the brightest and most iconic figures of Moscow life in the 1960s and 1970s. A mathematician by education, he was a writer and philosopher by vocation. At a superficial glance, the “idle reveler” was internally focused on understanding what was happening. Due to these circumstances, the KGB did not ignore him. The novel “Inheritance” had no chance of being published in the Soviet Union, since it told about the life of the anti-Soviet intelligentsia. Therefore, it was only thanks to samizdat that the first readers became acquainted with this book. Then the novel was published in Paris (under the editorship of Yu. Kublanovsky), but the full author’s version was published in the magazine “October” in 1990.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.

Роман "Спадщина" Ст. Ф. Кормера – це не просто літературний твір, а справжня хроніка життя та боротьби інтелектуалів у складні часи 1960-1970-х років. Автор, будучи математиком за освітою, вміло поєднує точність мислення з глибиною філософських роздумів, що робить текст надзвичайно насиченим і багатошаровим. Кормер майстерно передає атмосферу того часу, показуючи, як важливо було зберегти свою ідентичність та свободу думки в умовах тоталітарного режиму. Читання цього роману – це не лише можливість доторкнутися до історії, але й глибше осмислити сучасність. Незважаючи на те, що книга спочатку не мала шансів на публікацію в Радянському Союзі, її значення лише зростає з часом. Я рекомендую "Спадщину" всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та філософією, адже це твір, який змушує замислитися над важливими питаннями життя та свободи.
