V. F. Kormer is one of the most striking and iconic figures of Moscow life in the 1960s and 1970s. A mathematician by education, he was a writer and philosopher by vocation. At a superficial glance, the “idle reveler” was internally focused on understanding what was happening. Due to these circumstances, the KGB did not ignore him. An important theme of V. Cormer’s novels, articles and plays is the deformation of personality in conditions of unfreedom, expressed not only in individual pathology (“The Mole of History”), but also in the distortion of generic traits of all social strata (“Double consciousness…”) and society as a whole . Reality smacks of madness, force, what today is commonly called “Dostoevschina” (“Elevator”). Revolutions, social and scientific-technical, have led to the emergence of a new type of personality, different relationships between people and unexpected reactions to what is happening (“Man plus machine”). Bulletin of the Russian Student Christian Movement, No. 97, Paris - New York, III. 1970Journal “Questions of Philosophy”, 1989, No. 9Published from a manuscript provided by the author’s widow, E. V. Muntz
