At the center of the book by the Anglo-American writer Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) is a seven-year-old boy who managed to maintain high human qualities despite all the vicissitudes of fate. A simple but fascinating plot tells about all the vicissitudes of his life in America in the modest house of a widow, and then in England, when, having inherited the title, he finds himself the closest friend of his stern grandfather. This book is about goodness and how people change under its influence. The text is printed according to the 1896 edition (St. Petersburg, published by A.F. Devrien) with corrections.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
