The works included in the book by L. Panteleev (1908–1987), a classic of Soviet literature for children, were not intended by the author for lifetime publication: their reckless confession and truthfulness contrasted too sharply with the social mores of the stagnant era. In addition to the autobiographical notes “I Believe...”, the book also includes the documentary story “Jupiter’s Daughter” - about the daughter of the last Petrograd military dictator, General S.
