Роман "Картежник та бретер, гравець та дуелянт" - це справжня подорож у часі, яка занурює читача в атмосферу XIX століття, сповнену політичних та соціальних змін. Борис Васильєв майстерно описує життя дворянського роду Олексиних, показуючи, як історичні події, такі як повстання декабристів та підкорення Кавказу, впливають на долі героїв. Книга не лише розповідає про зовнішні події, але й про внутрішні переживання персонажів, їхні мрії, страхи та надії. Особливо вразила друга частина, "Вгамуй моє печалі...", яка торкається трагедії на Ходинському полі, що стала символом початку нового століття. Хоча переклад тексту має свої недоліки, загальна якість та емоційна глибина твору компенсують ці недоліки. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує історичну прозу та глибокі людські історії!
