The technology of creating portals, discovered more than a century ago, changed humanity, providing cheap energy, allowing harmful industries to be brought into space and the development of the solar system. Thanks to the portals, by 2204, humanity seemed to have merged into one huge metropolis: any place on Earth, any planet inhabited by people, is within walking distance - just go through the portal door of the Interface Corporation. But the price of this prosperity turned out to be high. So much so that the wreckage of an alien starship discovered on a newly discovered planet, with seventeen captive people on board, does not seem at all the worst of the secrets carefully hidden by the Corporation. Will a team of emergency experts be able to cope with the challenge? Or will they retreat, torn apart by internal contradictions and old grievances? Hard to tell.
