This edition is a publication of one of the most important and interesting sources on the history of Ancient Rus' and the language of the Eastern Slavs - the Kiev Chronicle, covering the period from 1118 to 1200. The text is published according to the earliest Ipatiev copy of the early 15th century, which well reflects the language of the Chronicles of the XII century, with discrepancies according to later lists - Khlebnikov XVI century. and Pogodinsky of the 17th century, with paleographic notes and a grammatical description of the language of the chronicle.The Kiev Chronicle is the largest Old Russian chronicle in terms of volume. Its language is unique, in particular, in that the individual components of the text are as close as possible to living speech.Compared to previous editions, the manuscript was verified, word division was clarified, and new readings of some difficult passages were given. For the first time, the edition of the Kyiv Chronicle is provided with an index, which presents all the word forms in the monument with their full grammatical characteristics.
