The action of the first part of “Manuscripts Do Not Return” takes place in the pre-perestroika years in the editorial office of the famous magazine “Pole-Polyushko” around the failed publication of a talented story brought to the magazine by a mysterious stranger. In the second part, “Lamb in the Mouth of a Sturgeon,” the same characters appear twenty years later: the action takes place in the present day. The world has turned upside down: yesterday's heroes and values are now out of honor, just as true art is out of honor - the exorbitant ambitions of the new nouveau riche, the "soap" television series that stupefy people's minds and money, money, money are coming to the fore. p>
